Castilla, Julia Mercedes
Julia Mercedes Castilla is the author of 14 books. She writes in English and in Spanish. “Aventuras de un niño de la calle”, “Emilio” in Spanish, “Emilio” in English. “Luisa viaja en tren”, El tesoro de la pordiosera” “Nadie se llama Perucho Corchuelo”, Cuentos cortos”, “Padres ajenos”, “Strange Parents”, “Sueños intactos” among others. Her new book “Aire Viviente” will come out in 2011. She was born in Colombia and has lived in the United States for many years. She has been invited to many countries to give presentations and visit schools.
Her writings reveal a social and psychological content. She was named Hispanic Writer of 2004 and also in 2010. The Library Journals has reviewed several of her books.
