Bennett, Kelly

Kelly Goldman Bennett writes books for children—both fiction and non-fiction. She holds a Master’s Degree in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Vermont College of Fine Arts. Her award-winning picture books NOT NORMAN, A GOLDFISH STORY (Candlewick Press), and most recently YOUR DADDY WAS JUST LIKE YOU and YOUR MOMMY WAS JUST LIKE YOU, funny and loving tributes to children and the parents they grow up to become (GP Putnam, 2010 & 2011), DAD AND POP, an ode to fathers and stepfathers (Candlewick Press), and DANCE Y’ALL DANCE a two-steppin’, swingin’ & twirlin’ Dance Hall romp (Bright Sky Press) celebrate families, dancing, friends, pets, and all that goes into being a kid!

Books for older readers, coauthored as “Jill Max,” take on taller subjects. These include SPIDER SPINS A STORY, FOURTEEN LEGENDS FROM NATIVE AMERICAN, featuring the spider character and STRANGERS IN BLACK, a Cambodian survival story co-authored under the name “Jill Max”.

Presentations:

Equally comfortable with large groups or small, Kelly shares her passion for story and writing with students ages pre-school through adult. During each lively, interactive presentation Kelly:
