Mary Wade turns her love of history into biographies that reveal the human side of people. But among her more than 40 books are other topics that have piqued her interest. Her books have been honored by The Parent Council, Western Writers of America, and the International Librarians Association.

With a masters degree in Library Science, she spent 25 years as an elementary librarian. SCBWI played an enormous role in her writing career, and she served for ten years as Regional Advisor for the Houston chapter.

Her enthusiasm for Texas history led her to found Colophon House for the publication of books about early Texas. Audiences for her presentations are treated to stories about Texas, all the while learning the elements of the writing process. She has traveled worldwide in connection with her husband’s career and often does school presentations in places she visits, the latest being in Papua on the island of New Guinea.
