Ana María Rodríguez is a scientist who
became a writer. Editors have praised her ability to clearly
present complex and simple topics to young and adult audiences.
From how fingers happen in a baby to how does a bar code works,
her writing and talks are educational as well as entertaining as
she combines facts with anecdotes, the latest science and
technology finds, and humor. She writes and speaks about
sciences, nature, health and diseases, history, life in
Spanish-speaking countries and other multicultural topics, and
other nonfiction subjects in English and Spanish for children
and adults in an interactive way. Ana María has published over
80 articles in children and adult magazines like Highlights
for Children, Yes Mag: Canada’s Science Magazine for Kids,
SuperScience, and Current Health 1. She has written five books, including Fires about wildfires and urban fires. She also
writes teaching guides in Spanish and English as well as
bilingual informational materials for children and adults in
brochure/newsletter form.

Highlights for Children History Feature of the Year Award

Her book, Edward Jenner Conqueror of Smallpox, published in 2006 by Enslow Publishers, has been named one of the Best Books of 2006 by Science Books and Films.
Ana María's most recent book is A Day in the Life of the Brain, published by Chelsea House in January 2007.
