Joy Fisher Hein, illustrator of Kathi Appelt’s, Miss Lady Bird's Wildflowers, HarperCollins, Spring 2005. Joy is an artist; painter, designer, sculptor, Texas Master Naturalist and certified by the National Wildlife Federation, to create School Yard Habitats. Her work as an illustrator includes numerous publications for the classroom; poetry posters, folk tales, song books, Native American culture, and “how to make”, “CHIPPEWA-OJIBWA DREAM CATCHERS” and “VIETNAMESE DRAGONS”, and more. Joy has also illustrated Desert Fire, by Shirley Frederick; Inspiration for Educators, by Jan Kilby and I Remember Mama, by Joyce Williams.

Programs include: “How to create a Picture Book”, “Journey of an Illustrator”, “How to Create and Present your Portfolio”, “Nature and Nurture, Lady Bird’s Mission”, “Artist Detective: Researching Nonfiction”, “Secrets in the Garden”, and more. Joy also demonstrates drawing techniques, encourages artistic vision and development of creative imagination through the arts and sciences.

Joy has been painting and gardening all her life. She and her husband, artist Frank Hein, live in the Texas Hill Country.
