Sherry Garland is the award-winning author of over 25 books for children, teenagers and adults. The Lotus Seed, Voices of the Alamo, Shadow of the Dragon, Song of the Buffalo Boy and others have won honors such as ALA Notable, BBYAs, Reading Rainbow, California Young Readers’ Medal, Texas Bluebonnet List, Texas Lone Star List, Pick of the Lists, Orbis Pictus and many more. Her latest picture book, The Buffalo Soldier, was a finalist for the Texas Institute of Letters Award. Ms. Garland’s lively programs on Writing, Texas History or Vietnam are chocked full of student participation, artifacts and visual aids. She also teaches writing workshops and speaks at conferences for teachers, librarians, or writers.
