Laura Edge,
a former middle school teacher, uses her love of history to create books that bring the past to life. She enjoys research and uncovering little known facts. Laura is the author of Laura Bush: Portrait of a First Lady, Andrew Carnegie: Industrial Philanthropist, and A Personal Tour of Hull-House. Be on the lookout for Laura’s latest books: a biography of President William McKinley, available in January 2007, and a middle grade novel, Wild West Dreams, available in spring 2007.
Laura is an energetic presenter to children of all ages. Using examples from her books, she shares stories about people who made the world a better place. Students are encouraged to think about what it means to be a good citizen and their personal responsibility to their community. Other programs include: “Cool Nonfiction: Did That Really Happen?” and “Building Believable Characters.”
